"Philanthropy must move beyond responsive grantmaking toward true accountability, co-creation, and repair. This moment demands boldness, imagination, and solidarity. We must use our resources, relationships, and power to help build a world where everyone can live with safety, joy, and self-determination." — Maegan Scott
Maegan is at her best when supporting people and organizations through the hard, hopeful work of change.
Maegan Scott is an organizational development strategist and equity practitioner with over 20 years of experience across philanthropic and nonprofit leadership. As Co-Executive Director of birdSEED, she co-leads the organization's work advancing housing equity and reparative justice in the DC and Philadelphia regions. Most recently, Maegan served as interim Co-CEO of Funders Together for Housing Justice. She now brings her extensive experience in philanthropic collaboration and housing justice to her work at birdSEED.
Maegan is also the founder of Wayfinding Partners, a consulting firm that is committed to advancing racial equity, systems change, and liberatory practice—values that dovetail with birdSEED's approach to shared leadership, resource redistribution, and community accountability. Maegan’s work blends organizational development, racial justice praxis, and healing practices to support individuals and institutions in aligning values with action. She is a coach, consultant, facilitator, healer, and thought leader, and has worked with philanthropic leaders and mission-driven organizations both nationally and internationally.
Maegan holds degrees from American University, Georgetown University, and Pepperdine University and is also a Reiki practitioner. She purchased her first home in Washington, DC in 2011 and currently splits her time between DC and Los Angeles with her husband and adorably mischievous cats. She recharges by indoor gardening and watching old movies.
